Walk for Warmth Oakland hosts 1,100 walkers

Thousands raised for Emergency Utility Assistance, but more donations are needed!

Oakland County, Michigan, February 13, 2012 – Inches of snow and treacherous driving conditions couldn’t discourage the over 1,100 walkers that attended Walk for Warmth on Saturday morning, February 11.  Arriving at Great Lakes Crossing Outlets before the roads were even cleared, walkers donated thousands of dollars towards Emergency Utility Assistance, helping keep the heat on in Oakland County homes.

With the first of OLHSA’s two Walk for Warmth events complete, the fundraising total to date is $84,100.  This includes sponsorship, online donations, and donations given at the Oakland Walk for Warmth this past weekend.  This year’s goal of $180,000 raised is still within reach, but your support is needed!

It’s not too late to make a difference. OLHSA’s Livingston Walk for Warmth event is happening on February 25, 2012 at Hartland Educational Support Service Center.  Teams and individuals can pre-register at www.olhsa.org/walkforwarmth to secure event t-shirts and team signs. Sponsorship opportunities are still available!  Heart of Gold sponsors (giving at least $2,500) will enjoy their own large color sign on display at Walk for Warmth, as well as online and program recognition.

Additionally, you may donate without attending Walk for Warmth by visiting http://www.olhsa.org/online-donation.  Every dollar raised goes back into the community, and donations are tax-deductible.

Great thanks go out to all Walk for Warmth sponsors, including the Premiere Presenting Sponsor, Genisys Credit Union, whose financial support and volunteers are an integral part Walk for Warmth’s success.
