About OLHSA

Oakland Livingston Human Service Agency (OLHSA) is a Community Action Agency that was formed in 1964 as part of President Lyndon B. Johnson's War on Poverty. OLHSA supports Oakland and Livingston County residents with removing the burdens of poverty by providing individually tailored, wrap-around assistance for all individuals and families in need of help.

About Our Team

OLHSA team members strive for excellence, respect others, honor diversity, and are one of our most valuable internal resources. We partner with community members and local organizations to provide more of an impact in our community work.

National Community Action Partnership

OLHSA is a member of a national network of Community Action Agencies (CAA) that work with individuals, families, and communities to reduce the causes and conditions of poverty. For over 50 years this network of 1,000 CAAs has worked to make our communities a better place to live.

Community Needs Assessment

  • Help reduce the causes and effects of poverty.
  • Foster citizen participation to initiate programs and improve existing services based upon local community needs.

The Promise of Community Action guides OLHSA's work.

Community Action changes people’s lives, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities, and makes America a better place to live. We care about the entire community, and we are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other.
