Economic Security

OLHSA’s Employment Barrier Removal Program works to eliminate employability challenges and encourages professional growth for Oakland County residents. Working with Employment Success Coaches, participants remove workforce barriers by being assisted with transportation (Uber rides, gas cards, bus passes), child care supports, minor auto repairs, professional attire, uniforms, tools, work boots, and referrals to OLHSA programs (Head Start/Early Head Start, WIC, financial wellness, utility, and rental assistance). Employee Barrier Removal participants receive one-on-one supports such as career coaching, soft skills training, and assistance with budget development. Participants are readied to set career goals and steps are actively taken to achieve those goals.
