Author of grandparents raising grandchildren book gives presentation to OLHSA support group Posted: December 08, 2014 Updated: December 11, 2014

OLHSA’s Grandparents Raising Grandchildren support group was appreciative of Elaine K. Williams, author of “The Sacred Work of Grandparents Raising Grandchildren” and licensed social worker, for the presentation she gave at the Brandon Township Library. Williams talked about her book and was inspired to write it because of her own sister's experiences raising her grandchildren. With six grandparents from OLHSA’s support group program in attendance it was nice for them to hear her knowledge about what they are experiencing.

At the event Williams asked each of the parenting grandmothers about their own experience and about specific issues occurring in their households. The grandparents gained a lot of knowledge as Williams shared wisdom that will benefit participants for a long time to come.

Williams also donated a copy of her book to each grandparent in OLHSA’s program, even if they did not attend her presentation. The grandparents are still talking about it and hope to have her back someday.
